I am currently taking commissions for portraits in the Washington, D.C., area.  I work in oils, pastels, and charcoal.

My portraits are intimate and personal -- not formal.  I prefer to work from life, but when I do a commission, it is necessary for me to work mainly from photographs. I paint only from photographs I have taken myself; hence I am limited to subjects in the Washington, D.C., area, where I live.

After receiving a request, I consult with the client, but I reserve the right to full artistic freedom, including the choice of setting, pose, colors, photos to work from, etc.  In return, I require no down payment upfront, and if the client is not completely satisfied, there is no need to buy the portrait, but there will be no discounts.
